– In Spain, I think we drink less, and it is more relaxed – on a terrace with friends, eating tapas, sitting in the park. Here the party starts much earlier as well, around eight, compared to midnight in Spain, says Helia Isabel Jiménez Aguilera.

She is one of three international students in Umeå that Vertex has interviewed about the differences in university experience across the globe.

– The classes are much smaller here, so it’s nice to be able to ask questions, says Emily MacKenzie from Scotland.

– Finding accommodation here is much easier than in Brazil, says Mariana dos Santos Toledo Busarello from Brazil.
